Classification: Level II Disturbance

The following report has been compiled from observations across multiple realms.

If you notice any of the signs below, report them immediately to the Archives.

If you cannot report them...

Run.

---

Sign One: Heroes Stop Acting Like Heroes

This is usually the first warning.

A knight abandons a quest.

A chosen one refuses a prophecy.

A prince walks away from a kingdom that desperately needs saving.

At first, these incidents appear harmless.

Many even seem reasonable.

But stories rely on patterns.

When heroes stop following their paths, the threads of their stories begin to loosen.

And those threads have a tendency to unravel.

Sign Two: Villains Forget Their Purpose

Most people assume this would be a good thing.

History suggests otherwise.

Stories require balance.

When a villain no longer remembers why they are feared, something far more dangerous can take its place.

Some villains become heroes.

Others become something entirely new.

The Archives are currently investigating reports of former villains joining rival factions, abandoning centuries old feuds, and displaying alarming levels of self-awareness.

Proceed with caution.

A villain who remembers their role is predictable.

A villain who does not is not.

Sign Three: Realms Appear Where They Shouldn't

One day you are walking through a forest.

The next, you discover a castle that did not exist yesterday.

Or a pirate ship stranded in the middle of a battlefield.

Or a road leading somewhere impossible.

When stories begin colliding, geography becomes unreliable.

Borders weaken.

Worlds overlap.

Entire kingdoms can appear overnight.

If you encounter a place that should not exist, do not assume it follows the rules of your own story.

It almost certainly does not.

Sign Four: Forgotten Things Return

Old stories do not disappear.

They linger.

Waiting.

Watching.

Sometimes they find their way back.

Abandoned characters have been reported wandering the edges of several realms.

Unfinished endings have surfaced in unexpected places.

There are even whispers of stories that were never supposed to be told.

The Archives cannot confirm these reports.

At least officially.

Sign Five: The Threads Become Visible

Few witnesses survive long enough to describe this phenomenon clearly.

Those who do speak of glowing strands woven through the air.

Some claim they hear voices.

Others report seeing memories that do not belong to them.

A handful insist they witnessed reality rewriting itself.

The appearance of visible threads indicates severe instability.

If observed, leave the area immediately.

Do not touch the threads.

Do not follow the threads.

And under no circumstances should you attempt to cut them.

---

Final Note

The presence of one sign does not necessarily indicate a collapsing story.

The presence of two signs is cause for concern.

The presence of three signs should be reported immediately.

The presence of all five signs means the collapse has already begun.

If that is the case, there is only one question left to ask:

Who is pulling the threads?
